China National Offshore Oil Corporation (“CNOOC”) is the largest offshore oil and gas producer in China. Founded in 1982, with its headquarters in Beijing, CNOOC has evolved into one of the largest independent oil and gas exploration and production companies in the world. CNOOC Australia Overview

Australia is one of CNOOC’s oversea core business areas. In May 2003, CNOOC signed the ESPA (Equity Sale and Purchase Agreement) to acquire a 5.3% interest in the North West Shelf (NWS) project. Since then, CNOOC’s business in Australia has grown rapidly, ranging from upstream to downstream. The highlights of our activities in Australia include:

  • At $US 7 billion, Australia is CNOOC’s third largest overseas investment destination.
  • Participating in four world-class LNG projects
  • CNOOC now supplies about 8 million tons of LNG per annum to China.
